What to do if your Bicycle is stolen

Using a bicycle to travel around your neighbourhood is not only cheap, but it is also environmentally friendly. So, it can be frustrating when someone steals your bicycle!

If this should happen to you, don't give up hope too quickly, there are a few ways you can try and recover your stolen bike...

1. Call the police / Alert your neighbourhood watch group

If your bike is stolen, you’ll need to file a police report. Call them immediately and let them know what happened. You should also contact your neighbourhood watch group, give them the details of your bike and they’ll be on the lookout for it! 2. Alert pawn shops in the area

It can't help to try, even if it doesn't do any good at least they know to be on the lookout for your bicycle. Some bike thieves will take stolen bikes to pawn shops for quick cash. You can call around and give your description of the bike.

3. Check online ads

Not every criminal is a mastermind. A lot of people steal things and post it to classified ads for resale, whether it is on OLX or on Gumtree. You can do your own investigating by trolling these websites to see if anything turns up. If you do spot your bike, don’t try to retrieve it. Alert the police so they can handle it and keep you safe.
