6 Critical Steps to take when you Suspect you’re being Followed


At some point in your life you probably get the feeling that you’re being watched or followed, fortunately in most cases it is just the result of an overactive imagination. However, what if it is not your imagination and you’re worst fears are in fact correct?

If you are in a situation where you are being followed, it’s important to always stay calm and trust your gut – here are 6 critical steps to take when you suspect you’re being followed…

1) Keep calm & control your fears – Your first action could be to panic, however this will only make things worse. Stay calm, take a deep breath and avoid putting yourself in more danger.

2) Always be aware of your surroundings – It is easy to become distracted by your thoughts or your smartphone and not be aware of what is going on around you, but it so important to keep your wits about you at all times so nothing can take you by surprise!

3) Confuse your follower – Take a detour to see if you are still being followed, the best way to do this is to turn and go back in a loop or cross the road and cross back again to see if they continue to follow you.

4) Find a public area – Do not go home or walk down a side street or alleyway, rather go somewhere public and busy. Head to the nearest shop or restaurant and inform someone of your suspicions and get help immediately.

5) Avoid looking back You may be tempted to check behind you, but it’s best to refrain as this may trigger your stalker and provoke a confrontation. Use the fact that they are unaware that you know that you are being followed to your advantage.
