7 Tips to Protect your Vehicle this Winter
As the weather gets colder, the car thieves
come out to prowl… Why? Because many people are tempted to warm up their cars
while they stay warm inside.
However, leaving your vehicle running,
unlocked and unattended provides a quick and easy steal for criminals. Use
these tips to protect your vehicle this winter…
1. Never turn on your car and then leave it
running with your keys in the ignition and then walk away, even if it’s just
for a minute.
2. Keep your valuables in your boot so they
are out of sight. Leaving your purse, cell phone or money in plain view will
only attract criminals.
3. Always keep your windows rolled up and
your doors locked, even if you are parked in your driveway, garage or in front
of your house.
4. Never leave your car registration in
your vehicle – if it is stolen it’ll be easier to dispose of your vehicle and
even make you a target of identity theft.
5. Be aware of your surroundings when you
are approaching your car. Always have your keys ready in your hand and check
around your vehicle for any suspicious activity. If you are concerned about
your safety, leave the area immediately.
6. Only park your car in busy, well-lit
areas
7. Arm your vehicle’s alarm or anti-theft
device every time you get out, otherwise consider installing one.
