Protecting yourself against Vehicle Crime

Vehicle crime is something that happens all over the world, however more so in South Africa. These crimes don’t only affect people with cars, bicycles and motorbikes are being stolen too.

Don’t be the next victim – take these precautionary measures!

-- Lock your bicycle or motorbike to a sturdy pole or bike stand when you have to park away from home.

-- Use the correct type of lock that criminals cannot easily break.

-- When you are at home, make sure your bicycle and/or motorbike is locked in your garage.

-- If it is possible fit an alarm to your motorbike.

-- Make sure to keep your keys inside where they cannot be seen from a window or door.

-- Park in well-lit, secure areas.

-- Always make sure all doors, windows and the boot are locked.

-- Don’t ever leave any valuables in plain sight in your car when you are parked or even when you are driving.

-- Store your vehicle and car ownership information / documents at home and not in your car.

-- If you have to leave your car parked somewhere unsafe or outside for the night, take out your car radio, GPS device, etc.
