350 people have their vehicle stolen! This includes cars, motorbikes and
bicycles.
Vehicle crime is something that happens all
over the world, and we cannot avoid it. BUT we can take the correct measures to
prevent it…
> When you are parking in the street or
in a public place, make sure to secure your bicycle to a pole or bike stand with
a heavy duty bicycle chain and lock.
> When you are at home, always lock your
car, bicycle or motorbike away in your garage.
> Install an alarm in your car and if
possible, get one installed for your motorbike.
> Keep your vehicle keys inside your
home, somewhere they cannot be seen from the doors or windows.
> If possible, always try to park in an
area that is well-lit.
> Lock up all your car doors, this
includes your boot!
> Remember to roll up all the windows
too.
> When you park your car in a public
area, do not leave any valuables on show such as your laptop, purse, handbag,
etc.
> Keep all your vehicle ownership
information inside your home and not in your car.
> If you HAVE to park your car outside
for the night, take out your radio, GPS device, etc.
> Your boot is just as unsafe as the
front seat, so make sure not to store any valuables inside your boot.
